Welcome to the December issue of the Islands View newsletter. This month there are a number of great holiday events occurring on the Islands, so take a look at the calendar section. Also we reached a huge milestone on our Nextdoor.com/DavisIslands website. In closing I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Holidays and a prosperous New Years. It’s Always Good to Know

Recently there have been questions regarding sidewalk access around the Islands. In particular, times where vehicles are parked across the sidewalk or large tree branches from an owner’s property are projecting over the sidewalk. Doing some research through the City of Tampa’s Neighborhood Enhancement Division, the following City Ordinances as it relates to these two items are explained (click links below):

Sec. 22-8. – Obstructing streets, sidewalks, alleys, etc.; exceptions.

Sec. 22-309. – Trimming branches of trees projecting over streets and sidewalks.

While it is always great to be informed, it is just as important to work with each other when an issue arises. We live in a neighborhood so being neighborly is kinda what it is all about 🙂

Bayshore Little League Spring Registration Open

It’s that time of the year again. Registration for Bayshore Little League Spring season has begun. This is a great opportunity for Boys and Girls to participate in our National pastime. Visit BSLL.com for all registration dates and procedures. On a side note checkout the great expanded fields and new dugouts the next time you drive by!

Annual Golf Cart Parade

If you have a low speed vehicle then come out and join the rest of your fellow residents at this great annual activity.  Save the date for Sunday December 18th at 5pm.  Meet at the Riviera bridge (intersection of Lucerne and Riviera)  Dress your cart up as much as you want, some years it gets pretty extravagant!

Davis Islands Annual Toy Drive

Join your neighbors on December 11th for the 16th Annual Davis Islands Toy Drive.  This yearly event is a great way to give to children that need something special this holiday season, as well as an opportunity to meet your neighbors.  For more information on the Santa Stop closest to you visit DI Toy Drive on facebook.

Next Davis Islands Civic Board Meeting

The next meeting of the DI Civic Association will be held Tuesday December 6th at the Sandra Freedman Tennis Complex, starting at 7pm.

DAVIS ISLANDS LAND DEVELOPMENT & ZONING ACTIVITY
