This month, with the weather about to turn nice I thought I would highlight how RICH we are with Amenities here on Davis Islands.  My hope is that you take advantage of our great community to the fullest and continue to tell friends and family about our little secret.  Also there are a number of design variances this month that are worth reviewing as well as our annual Coastal Cleanup.

Early Bird Reminder – S.W.E.E.P Program
Start planning for the City of Tampa’s annual S.W.E.E.P program coming to the Islands – October 22-26th.  It is that time of year where the City will collect larger items for disposal that are not collected during routine bi-weekly waste collection.  Mark your calendars now so you don’t forget.  For details on what is collected refer to the City’s website here
CRIME ACTIVITY JULY
We wanted to start a new section this month on Crime Reports on Davis Islands.  This section will be a monthly summary of REPORTED crime activity.  The Tampa Police Department has partnered with Lexis/Nexis Community Map to summarize incidences in our neighborhood.

AUGUST EVENTS

Coastal Cleanup – Davis Islands Join your fellow Islands Residents on September 15th at our annual coastal cleanup Hosted by “Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful”.  Check-in is at 8:30am at the Davis Islands Boat Ramp Seaplane Basin (825 Severn Avenue). Register online to volunteer here

 

BOOK OF THE MONTH

We all have setbacks in life, some harder than others.  However, what separates future success from future failure after these setbacks is how we comeback.
A Setback is a Setup for a Comeback written by Willie Jolley, while a quick read, really helps you develop the mindset of how to get up and comeback from life’s inevitable setbacks.  Whether in business or personal, setbacks will happen, how we handle, process and respond makes all the difference in our future.  I encourage you to read this book if you are facing a setback, or even just to prepare for when one will come.

The next meeting of the DI Civic Association will be held Tuesday September 4th at the Sandra Freedman Tennis Complex, starting at 7pm.
