DI road resurfacing continues

The City of Tampa continues the resurfacing of the Islands streets, this time from the section of the Apex, south towards “Thrill Hill”. It is estimated that the work will begin in the next month or so. As many of you are aware the area south of “Thrill Hill” to South Davis was re-stripped and resurfaced last year, with bike lanes added. It is hopefully that the addition of the bike lanes will slow traffic on the West Davis corridor.

Early Bird Reminder – S.W.E.E.P Program

Start planning for the City of Tampa’s annual S.W.E.E.P program coming to the Islands – October 17-21st. It is that time of year where the City will collect larger items for disposal that are not collected during routine bi-weekly waste collection. Mark your calendars now so you don’t forget. For details on what is collected refer to the City’s website here

Roy Jenkins Pool = Year Round Fun

The Mayor’s City of Tampa 2017 budget has come out and with much enthusiasm the Roy Jenkins Pool has been identified to be open Year Round! A special thanks to the Islands residents that pushed for this to become a reality. In particular, thank you to Councilman Harry Cohen who supported this as a priority for Tampa residents.

How many times have you been enjoying time at the DI Dog Park, Seaplane Basin or the beach and had to GO!!!!

We have a great opportunity to have restrooms installed down at Seaplane Basin Park BUT we need your help. With the 2017 budget decisions in full swing we need all hands on deck!

– is a nonprofit organization to promote the beautification of Davis Islands. – details

Davis Islands Civic Association – to provide effective leadership on issues important to residents in a manner that protects and enhances the quality of life of the Davis Islands community. – details

Davis Islands Stewardship – responsible for advancing implementation of the Davis Islands Community Plan – details
