Welcome to the November issue of the Islands View newsletter. This past month we had a great turnout for “Halloween in the DI Village”, thank you to all the great business sponsors for your support. Also, I wanted to give a special thank you to my wife Jennifer for organizing this event each year. There are two great events this month so take a look at the calendar. Also, continue to share any ideas you may have to help improve the Islands. Your ideas are the foundation for making our community such a great place to live. Flood Insurance

As Hurricane season winds down (no pun intended) we tend to forget about the rains and the potential for flooding here on Davis Islands. While most folks with a federally backed mortgage have flood insurance through FEMA there is a growing base of homeowners finding Private Flood insurance policies. While I was researching for my own home I came across a list of Flood Insurance Writers in Florida. The theory is that these insurance carriers will help to increase competition and thereby bring down rates. I thought I would pass along this list from the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation in case you were evaluating for your own situation.

DI Movie in the Park  “Zootopia”

Join us this Saturday November 5th (7pm) for the Davis Islands Civic Association’s Movies in the Park.  The early October event was rained out, so we have rescheduled.  This is a great Disney movies for the whole family to enjoy.  Print your low back chairs, blankets and food for a great time under the stars.

DI Civic Association Annual Meeting

Join the Davis Islands Civic association on November 15th (6:30pm) for their annual meeting.  This is an opportunity to vote for open board seats, hear about event and activities for 2017 as well as meet your fellow residents.

Next Davis Islands Civic Board Meeting

The next meeting of the DI Civic Association will be held Tuesday November 7th at the Sandra Freedman Tennis Complex, starting at 7pm.
